Founding Statement
Draft Masters IP was founded in 2024 with a vision of what a modern law firm could be. We wanted to do the work we enjoy without the burdens of the traditional law firm – the preoccupation with billable hours, efficiency dashboards, internal competition. In our experience, those practices create a lot of unnecessary professional barriers and angst.
So we created a firm where we work together as a team. We engage clients as a team. We research and draft and analyze as a team. We do education and outreach as a team. We don’t look backward each month or quarter or year to assign profitability metrics or billing velocity. (Gross.) Whether billable or not, we know that the work we do matters.
A wonderful thing follows from this – freedom to do the work. We can devote as much time as we need to complete a project. We can prioritize community events and mentoring and pro bono. The day-to-day practice of law becomes about the craft and the client. It is such a pleasure to work together in this way.
At Draft Masters IP, we have each other’s back and the same goes for our clients – we’ve got your back. We’re all in with the work you’re doing and the intellectual property rights you’re building. We’re doing this with you because we think it matters.
This is the modern practice of law. We hope you’ll join us.
